My Colonic Story: Why I Agreed To a Colon Detox| Part 1
The Colon Cleaning Experience
Most people buy some fancy new gadget or car with their tax refund check. I bought 8 colon hydrotherapy visits. There are many reasons why people get a colon detox. Some do it for constipation, weight loss, to live longer, etc. It is believed that the buildup of fecal matter encourages growth of yeast and bad bacteria, causing stagnant toxins to be released into the blood stream and block nutrients from the body. I decided to get a colon detox because I eat a bunch of crap and it had been building up in my colon for at least 20 years. The average colon is 5 ft long, so just imagine how much baggage the typical person is carrying around. My bowel movements were not frequent, and the possibility of losing weight in the process did not sound so bad either.
Before I even had my first colon detox session, I was told that I would have to prepare for it beforehand. These were actually suggestions, but they would make the colon detox more beneficial. It was recommended that I eat a salad the day before the session and that I abstain from eating altogether the day of. Eating salad the previous night would allow waste to move through my body more easily during the actual colonic. Not eating the day of was not difficult since I conveniently scheduled my colon detox in the morning. It was also recommended that I take acidophilus pills. Acidophilus is a probiotic full of good bacteria. During the colon detox, your body is flushed out with water. This is effective in removing bad bacteria but good bacteria is lost too.
Most clinics suggest coming back eight times in order to thoroughly cleanse your colon. After that, you can come back once a year to maintain colon health. You are probably wondering how much all of this cost. I paid close to $90 per session. The actual cost of each colon detox was $80, but sometimes they gave me herbal supplements to take when I was at home, which I paid for. I also gave them a tip. Yes, it was very expensive. However, it was something I really wanted to do and I only would have to go through this process one time in my life. My body would thank me later, I thought.
