You may not realize it, but many people take some time of detox pill during their lifetime. Detox pills supply the body with nutrients, minerals and vitamins that the body needs. The masses take multi-vitamins to supplement poor eating habits or to help support a weak immune system due to an illness or malady. There are many things to consider before starting a detox program that consists mainly of taking detox pills.

Detox pills, or herbal supplements in general, are meant to supplement something. True, your body may need assistance getting more nutrients but a detox pill alone will not do the trick. For example, taking large dosages of Vitamin C does not mean that you never have to eat fruit and vegetables again. Even taking vitamins and minerals in large dosages is not good. Too much Vitamin A can weaken bones in women. Detox pills should always be accompanied by a healthy diet to be most effective.

This may seem like common sense, but who knows how long the bottles have been sitting on the shelves. This is especially true if you purchase your items from a drug store that literally showcases hundreds of vitamins, minerals and herbs. Detox pills that have expired lose their value and will practically be useless to you. Always read the label on the bottle for quantity intake and do your research before taking detox pills.

Pick a dry, cool place to store your supplements. Hot temperatures will have a negative impact on detox pills. Some good locations to place detox pills are on shelves or in a closet. Also, be sure that the cotton that comes with the bottle covers the detox pills to ensure freshness.

Always ask a doctor before taking detox pills, especially if you are taking medication. Sometimes certain vitamins do not interact well with medical conditions or presciptions.
