How Does Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture is an age old method of helping the body to heal itself and promote proper functioning. Acupuncture is
done by placing needles into the skin in specific areas according to the pains or problems the patient is having. These needles then have electrical, heat or cold stimulation applied at these points. Chinese people have long believed that channels of energy run through patterns across the body’s surface and these are called meridians. They help with blood flow and nerve pulses and run to various organs and parts of the body. Any obstruction of these river like meridians can cause a part of the body to not work properly, and acupuncture helps to remove any of these blockages naturally without drugs. Acupuncture treatments help to correct imbalances in the body such as digestion, energy production and absorption while using the circulation of the meridians.
Popular Science and Acupuncture
Scientists are finding ways of explaining how acupuncture works. Placing needles in the acupuncture points makes the nervous system release chemicals that can trigger other chemicals and hormones that help the body to heal itself. The main principles behind the Yin which is negative and the Yang which is positive, is to bring balance. The balance is the healthy body. Science knows that the cell is the center of the body units, and the meridians are the paths that cells take to move to parts of the body. When a positive and negative charge is not balanced in the body, this is called a disease by the Chinese. Using the Yin and Yang balance, acupuncture forces the electrons in cells to go back to normal movement patterns, causing the body to release chemicals to actually help your body cure itself of ailments. Although many doctors look down at acupuncture, it is considered a health profession and can be beneficial to many.
