Sticking to a Raw Food Diet while Traveling
Sticking to a raw food diet can be hard while you are at home, eating out or simply hanging out with friends. But when you travel, there are some areas where certain foods simply are not eaten raw due to cooking traditions, health hazards and other miscellaneous reasons. Your raw food diet can however be adhered to while traveling if you stick to a few certain rules.
Raw Food Diet Rules
1. If you are traveling to an area where raw foods are not fit for consumption due to health hazards such as salads, maybe sticking to fruits and multivitamins are your best bet. Dealing with disease such as salmonella or shigella simply to eat a salad is much more trouble than it is worth.
2. If at all possible, purchase your raw food diet materials in grocery stores and then clean them yourself thoroughly when at your hotel room for consuming. This will insure that you have clean fruits and vegetables to eat while vacationing.
3. Buy enough fresh fruits and vegetables that are clean from a store or local farmer and clean them yourself and store them if possible in your room. Keeping these raw food diet materials in your room means you will have them at your disposal. Most fresh raw food diets allow for your food to be room temperature, therefore refrigeration is not required.
You can stick to your raw food diet while traveling if you plan ahead. If you are staying in your home country, buying locally and keeping your raw food diet materials and foods with you is the best bet. However, many other countries will not allow you to bring food in with you, therefore you must buy locally. Remember to always wash your raw foods, diet foods only work when you actually eat them.
